Nature Explore
Country Day
was the second school in Minnesota to meet the high standards of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Nature Explore program.  Our outdoor environments help enhance concentration, inspire creativity, relieve stress, and develop imagination. Situated on a seven acre model farm, we celebrate the variety of outdoor experiences available to all children who attend.

Outdoor Classrooms

We have more than just playgrounds!  In addition to monkey bars and slides,  our outdoor classrooms give children the opportunity to use all of their talents as they play and learn.  They can create visual masterpieces in the nature art area, build with natural materials, play marimbas in the music area, or explore water with the log pump.

For over 40 years Country Day has incorporated animals into early childhood education.  Children learn lessons in biology, empathy and responsibility through their care and interaction with a wide variety of animals.  From feeding llamas and riding ponies, to grooming burros and walking goats, students interact with animals on a daily basis.

Children have the opportunity to get their hands dirty in one of the many garden areas at the school.  From growing and eating tomatoes, to watching butterflies in the butterfly garden, there is no end to the opportunities for exploration amongst the plants.

Throughout the grounds there are abundant spaces for an open-ended play and exploration. Homes for Gnomes, trails through forests, and wide open fields.
