http://www.carpenternaturecenter.org                                 A great apple getaway for the family.  Carpenter’s uses an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program in the orchard, which reduces the amount of chemicals used on the apples.  The apple house is a must for superb apples and wonderful organic produce                        

http://www.neycenter.org                                                  The Ney Center is a legacy county park with over 400 acres, much of it prairie restoration, and it is home to a historic century farm that is no longer operational, but is a great piece of history.  The nearby town of Henderson is a picturesque place with a good museum, antique shops and a soda fountain on main street that the kids will enjoy.
