History
Children's Country Day School has provided quality
early childhood programming for young children for over 35 years.
Ron and Phyllis Ettinger opened the school at 1588 South Victoria as
Creative Playhouse in 1971, overlooking the city of St. Paul and the Mississippi River Valley.
Soon after opening, CCDS began offering full day programming and a
summer camp experience. Over the years, numerous additions and
improvements have been made to the 7 acre model farm, but the mission
and desire to provide high quality child care has always remained
paramount.
Philosophy
The basic philosophy at Children's Country Day
School is based on the premise that each child is a unique and special
individual with varying interests, needs and abilities. Respect
for these differences is reflected in an approach to learning that is
individualized, allowing each child to progress at his or her own pace.
Emphasis is placed on providing a warm and nurturing environment which
provides the emotional support and encouragement that all individuals
need. Nurturing a positive emotional self concept in each
individual child is an essential foundation for life. When
children feel good about themselves and their individual skills,
socialization naturally takes place. The environment is designed
to encourage the children to develop positive friendships through an
internal desire to socialize, thus providing a climate based on
cooperation, caring and sharing.
Our philosophy is to provide a homelike
environment that provides support to children, parents and families.
We acknowledge individual differences in each child and family, and
rejoice in their uniqueness. We encourage all families with their
varying nationalities, races and religions to share their customs,
cultures and talents.
