NEWS FROM THE LLAMAS CLASS:
Wow! It is amazing how quickly our school year is coming to an
end. As we look forward with anticipation to summer and new beginnings
in the fall, we look back over a year of fun, laughter, learning and
overall growth. The most
exciting outcome is all the friendships that were formed which we will
cherish.
The month of April was a busy one
indeed. Having beautiful weather certainly did put a spring in our step.
Our explorations, both in and outside of our environment, gave us ample
opportunities to see, hear and smell spring. We also had many
opportunities to visit with and observe the animals and gardens.
We would like to thank those who
helped to make the month especially memorable. These include Kate,
George's mom for bringing in George's violin and to George for not only
explaining the various parts, but for playing so beautifully as well -
Bravo! Stephanie, Max S’s mom came in and taught us about yoga. We
enjoyed the opportunity to relax our minds and bodies doing the variety
of poses. Our friend Soren brought in frozen yogurt treats after a
running race in which everyone was a winner. Finally thanks to our
friend A.J. for bringing in shells from his trip to South Carolina. It
was kind of you to think of us. As we discussed Earth Day, we talked about the importance of each of us taking care of "Our World", especially the communities in which each of us lives. The boys and girls each had an opportunity to express themselves by drawing what a happy, healthy world looks like through their eyes. It truly is amazing to see the variety of ways in which each of them expresses themselves. Within many of their works a variety of colors and "themes" were used...from flowers, rainbows, and sunshine, to people, houses and recycling.
Special Thanks to each of you who were
able to make it to our a.m. presentations of "The Little Red Hen." Each
of the children worked hard not only on their costumes, but on the
memorization of their lines as well. Before the dress rehearsal, which
they did for the pre-one class, a child said, "I have stage fright."
This led to a discussion of what that means and then how to overcome it.
Another child offered, "Once you get there, you will forget you have
stage fright, and the next thing you know, you'll be having a good time.
I know that because that once happened to me." Isn't it nice to know
that these kiddos truly are looking out for and are supportive of each
other? We feel fortunate that each of them knows and truly
understands the importance of being a friend. Boy, are we going to miss
this bunch!
Looking ahead...May promises to be a
busy month as well. We are looking forward to the celebration of two
birthdays, as well as continued opportunities to explore both in and
outside of our environments.
As we look forward to continued
friendships and explorations, we wish each of you a happy, healthy fun
filled month of May! Enjoy spending this beautiful spring weather
together.
