NEWS FROM THE CHICKS CLASS:  What an exciting and busy April we had!  It is great to be able to spend more time outside visiting with our animals.  The Chick Class has been busy this month.  Here is a sample of what we have accomplished...

*Sumayah helped us learn many different ways that we can stretch our bodies through Yoga.
*We did finger plays and read many stories on body parts and nutrition.
*We sang songs such as “Scrub-a-Dub-Dub and various snack songs.
*We made blueberry muffins.
*We expressed our creativity through finger paint, footprints and making a paper plate food collage.
*As a group we made a garden mural and created bluebirds using our handprints.
*We explored our sensory table and nature area with potting soil, plantings, bugs, frogs and rocks.

Our themes for May:

Birds and Birdhouses
Butterflies
Flowers

During the Week of the Young Child, Sylvia sang “Special Me” songs and we had strawberry shortcake.  We also decorated our maracas and rode the big wheel cars.  Our special visitor for this week was Sara Waters.  She sang songs with us and used many different puppets to entertain our children.

THANKS...We want to give a big thanks to Seth (Magnus’ dad) as he played the banjo during our music class.  The children enjoyed the sound and dancing to the music.  Also, thanks to Jackie (Allie’s mom) for all the time she spent time with us helping to make a class painting on canvas.  We loved the experience and the end result.  Happy May!!
