NEWS FROM THE BUNNIES CLASS:  April was another busy month filled with fun activities!  We started out our month learning about yoga and exercise.  We worked on our yoga skills in the gym and played some new games.  We talked about the importance of exercise and keeping our bodies active.

The next area we studied was our bodies.  We drew a body in nature and added our body parts to the poster.  We participated in activities that used specific parts of our bodies.  We painted with kool-aid and made a picture with different textures.  We held a taste test and talked about how the foods tasted.  We listened for sounds outside and in our classroom.  We also enjoyed feeling objects that had been placed inside a bag and then tried to identify the objects.

We spent a week learning about nutrition.  We talked about which foods we can eat anytime and which foods we should only eat sometimes.  We divided foods into the categories on the food pyramid and talked about how each type of food helps our bodies.  We enjoyed trying some of our healthy foods as we learned where they fit on the pyramid.   We practiced our cutting skills as we cut out food pictures from magazines and glued them onto paper.

We ended the month of April by celebrating the Week of the Young Child.  A storyteller named Sara Waters joined us to help us learn about nutrition and keeping our bodies healthy.  We watched the llama class put on a play called The Little Red Hen.  We enjoyed a special visit from a clown named Crisco D’ Clown.  She entered our classroom as herself and then added all of her makeup and clothing as the children watched.  We had special snacks and fun activities like face painting and tattoos.

In April we continued to help Seth take care of the animals at Country Day.  We searched around the school to make a special healthy snack for the goats and used our muscles to bring hay to the llamas.  We brought vegetables to the bunnies and shared apples with the burros.

Coming Up in May:

We will finish the year with our last fun filled weeks together.  We will be learning about birds, bees, flowers and spend time working in the garden.  We will continue to spend a lot of time outside and enjoy this beautiful weather.
