We experienced a fabulous February!  We began the month looking forward to Valentine's Day; we spent time talking about what it means to be a friend and how to show someone you care about them.  Excitement for February's premier holiday grew as we decorated homework hearts, Valentine boxes, and a special gift for moms and dads.

We also delved deeper into a day in the life of a Country Day animal.  Each week in Nature focused on one or more of the animals found on our school grounds.  We discussed them all, and particularly enjoyed the Nature room visits from Sweet Pea and hen, Tweet Tweet the guinea pig, and Butterscotch the bunny.  Of course, we would never forget the walks that Gracie the goat took us on!  We found sledding with the llamas entertaining because they are always curious as to what it is we are laughing about on their hills.

We worked hard to gather information for our classroom book on goats that we will present to the school for current and future use.  We compiled information such as, but not limited to the types of goats that live at Country Day, what they like to eat, what a good shelter looks like, and books that can be read in order to enhance prior knowledge.

Finally, we are looking forward to March bringing more sunshine and warmer temperatures.  In order ot embrace the forth coming season we will begin learning about how to take care of plant seeds in order for them to grow and become a part of our gardens.  This will be a hands-on-learning experience for us as we will be starting the seeds indoors and taking care of them until the gardens are ready for them!

On a side note:  The Billy Goat class has done an excellent job of independently dressing themselves to go outside and play in all of that snow!  We will be celebrating making it through this long winter with a pizza party; details to follow in a future weekly note!  Looking forward to seeing you at conferences!
